The Mississippi Police Benevolent Association endorsed Sen. Merle Flowers, R-Olive Branch, in his re-election campaign this week.
The Mississippi PBA also endorsed Delbert Hosemann, a Republican candidate for secretary of state.
Chris Skinner, the president of the Mississippi PBA, announced the endorsements of Flowers and Hosemann earlier this week.
Flowers is seeking a second term. He is opposed by Kevin Blackwell in the Republican primary Aug. 7.
Skinner, in a press release endorsing Hosemann, said, "We will ask our members, their friends and families, and all citizens who respect the strong and efficient enforcement of our laws to cast their ballots in the upcoming election in your favor."
The Mississippi PBA has 13 chapters throughout the state with over 2,000 officers as members.
Hosemann, a Jackson lawyer, is seeking his first bid for office in the secretary of state race.
He will face Jeffrey Rupp of Starkville, Gene Sills of Crystal Springs and Rep. Mike Lott of Petal in the Republican primary Aug. 7.
Jabari A. Toins of Jackson and John Windsor of Corinth are seeking the Democratic nomination.
